Error message:
“You are using UPCs, EANs, ISBNs, ASINs, or JAN codes that do not match the products you are trying to list.”
Amazon Error 8572 usually means there is a mismatch between your product details and the data Amazon expects for that listing.
This can involve inconsistencies between:
- GTIN / UPC / EAN
- Brand name
- Manufacturer name
- Product title or attributes
Amazon may also trigger this error if the GTIN is already linked to another product in its catalog.
Common Causes of Error 8572
1. Product title conflicts
Amazon may reject overly generic product titles that resemble existing listings.
Example:
Instead of using a title like Notebook, use a more descriptive title such as:
Eco-Friendly Spiral Notebook with Recycled Paper.
2. Brand name mismatch
This error can occur when:
- The brand name does not match your product or packaging
- The brand field is blank
- The brand entered does not align with Amazon’s verification checks
If your item is genuinely unbranded, you may use Amazon’s generic/no-brand option where appropriate.
3. Manufacturer field issues
Formatting issues in the Manufacturer field can trigger validation errors.
Common fixes:
- Remove special characters
- Simplify long manufacturer names
- Use consistent naming across all listing fields
4. GTIN already linked elsewhere
Amazon may reject your listing if the barcode is already associated with another ASIN or conflicting catalog data.
Double-check that:
- The GTIN was entered correctly
- The barcode has not been assigned to another product listing
How to Resolve Error 8572
Review the following fields carefully:
- Product ID (UPC/EAN/GTIN)
- Brand
- Manufacturer
- Product title
Ensure all information is consistent across your product, packaging, and listing data.
If Amazon requests verification, you may need:
- Product images showing the brand name
- Packaging images
- Manufacturer or ownership documentation
- Letter of Affiliation (where applicable)
Acceptance of documentation is always at Amazon’s discretion.
Barcode Information
The barcodes we supply are globally unique GTINs originating from legacy UCC allocations and do not require ongoing GS1 annual fees.
Because historical UCC prefixes are not reassigned on GS1’s website, Amazon may occasionally request additional documentation to verify association between your business and the barcode.
In these cases, supporting documentation such as a Letter of Affiliation may assist with verification.
