Amazon Error Code 8541

Error message:
“The SKU data provided is different from what’s already in the Amazon catalog.”

This usually means the GTIN (barcode number) you entered is already linked to an existing product in Amazon’s catalog.

Common Reasons for Error 8541

  1. The GTIN has already been used by you
Check whether this barcode has previously been assigned to another Amazon listing.

Remember: each product variation (size, colour, flavour, design, etc.) requires its own unique GTIN.

  1. Another seller is using the same GTIN
In some cases, another seller may have already attached a matching barcode to a product in Amazon’s catalog, even if they are not the legitimate owner. This can occur when sellers use self-generated or improperly sourced barcode numbers that mimic valid GTIN formatting.

This can create a catalog conflict and trigger Error 8541.
